Prof. Dr. Naimish N. Mehta

Prof. Dr. Naimish N. Mehta, is currently the Chairman of Centre for Digestive Sciences and Professor and Head of Department for HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation at Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Previously he has served as Co-Chairman and Chief Transplant Surgeon in the Institute of Surgical Gastroenterology, GI-HPB Oncology and Liver Transplantation at Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi.

 

His experience in performing complex HPB and Liver transplantation surgery for last 25 years has given him recognition as an expert in this field, worldwide and is also certified by the European Board of Surgery in transplantation.

 

He has written many book chapters and published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, delivered lectures as an invited faculty in various academic meetings. His credits include performing World’s first Living donor liver transplant with open heart surgery in a child, performing the first Living donor intestinal transplantation in India, Dual Lobe Liver transplantation.

 

He has held governing council posts across various academic organisations in India and is currently serving as the Chairman of the Scientific Committee in the Indian Chapter of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery Association (IHPBA) and a member of the IEC committee of IHPBA. He is also a recognised GI/HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation trainer and has been involved in teaching super specialty candidates since 2008. He is a founder member and helped in the formation of Liver Transplantation Society of India and has been instrumental in establishing LDLT program at many centres across India over two decades.
