Professor Patrick Reilly

Dr Reilly earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1983 and his Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1987. He completed a general surgery residence at The Medical Center of Delaware during which time he also was a research fellow in the Department of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. After residency, Dr Reilly completed a fellowship in Trauma & Surgical Critical Care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, finishing in 1995.Dr Reilly is currently the C William Schwab Professor of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he also serves as Chief of the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Emergency Surgery. He is a Past president of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma and past Vice-Chair of the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma. He currently serves as the President-Elect of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma. His research interests focus around trauma systems performance as well as surgical education.
