Dr Abdullah Noor Hisham

Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah is a Senior Consultant Surgeon in Breast and Endocrine Surgery and has held the Director General of Health Malaysia position since March 2013. His area of expertise is in breast and endocrine cancers, with numerous published papers and textbook chapters on endocrine surgery. He obtained his Master of Surgery and Medical Degrees from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) and trained in breast and endocrinesurgery under the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Fellowship training program. Dr Hisham is a global policymaker with vast experience in the World Health Organization and as a Board Member of the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi). He recently completed his 2017-2021 term as a Councillor-atLarge on the Executive Board of the International Society of Surgery (ISS) and Chair of the Global Surgery Committee of ISS. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Asian Association of Endocrine Surgeons.He has received numerous local and international awards, including the prestigious Fellowship Ad Hominem of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. His particular interest lies in enhancing universal healthcare coverage to marginalised communities and bringing personalised healthcare back to the community through patient-centred care and creative innovations.
